Web Content Seminar Summary

Today I along with 7 other students woke bright and early at 6:30AM to go see Ginny Redish talk about web content. A lot of what she had to cover was what we already do, but it was nice to see it being conveyed to people who are in the business now. Some key points she went over were....

  • Don't write long winded paragraphs keep content short and concise (bullet points like these)
  • Find what people are looking for and keep the terminology consistent with the content
  • When applicable put information links in question form, but don't make your site a FAQ
The possibility for networking was there, but most of the students who came felt like it was much less of an option compared to the official MIMA socials where you can "at least comment on whether or not they're drinking beer or wine", paraphrased from Kevin Byrne.

Fellow attendees: MIMA will likely request feedback via an email, take a minute to complete. They want/need feedback.

MIMA Board: I met the MIMA treasurer, pres. of a user research/evaluation firm. She is willing to come by and speak to MIMA club. Let me know how you want to handle that.
