I recently gave a presentation for Jerry's Creative and Critical Thinking class and he recommended that I post it on here to help some of you with stress and time management.
The basic goal of my presentation was to show that being physically active even in these cold months can really help with stress levels and time management. When we exercise the connection between your neurons are strengthened making it easier to process and store information. The endorphins released 30min after you begin a physical activity will give you a euphoric feeling because the pain receptors will be blocked. The combination of these two events will lower your stress level and clear your mind.
Even though it doesn't give you anymore physical time, the time you have available to you will be utilized more effectively. Research has suggested that as little as 30minutes of physical activity a week will lower your stress and make you more resistant to something that would normally stress you out.
Stress and time management is something all of us deal with; if you can do something to help yourself with either of those you should take advantage of it. I created a mini-chart for anyone to keep track of how often you're physically active and your general stress level over a period of a week. I promise you'll be more relaxed and clear minded if you really go all out with this.
I work out two or three times a week and ride my bike five miles to and from work and I can honestly say I'm much more happy than I was when I was hunkered down in my apartment or school 23 hours of the day. Use the workout equipment at school or do some simple stuff at home, but if you keep your body active your mind will follow.
